ITKN Awarded $9.4 Million Through Tribal Electrification Program
Mar 7, 2024
In March 2024—Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced $72 million from the Investing in America agenda to help Tribal communities electrify homes. At the time, this marked the largest ever investment in climate and served as a critical step toward providing electricity to unelectrified Tribal homes across 21 Tribes.
The allocation included $9.4 million in funding for the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska (ITKN). Grey Snow Sovereign Solutions (GS3) played a key role in achieving this award, providing critical support in crafting and submitting the Tribe’s final application.
Today, GS3 continues to provide ongoing financial and technical assistance for ITKN to optimize funding for renewable energy solutions and ongoing workforce development.
Despite the tumultuous and uncertain path for previously awarded and future government funding opportunities, GS3 remains committed to improving Tribal energy sovereignty.
With our in-depth and diverse approach to identifying funding sources, we can better prepare Tribal communities to navigate financial disruptions while keeping renewable energy projects on track.
